Marc Clauzade |
| Born in Paris in 1957, Marc Clauzade distinguished himself early on in life by his drawings which were precise, lively and naturally full of life. His higher education studies as a metal construction draftsman allowed him to envision a promising career as an engineer. |
In 1980 however, he chose to enroll for six years at Toulouse art school. Shortly after obtaining his diploma he was given a most coveted award for young talent: the first great oil painting prize of the “fiap?salon in Paris. This was the first of many to come. Each painted scene proposes an original solution to the problem of color. For Clauzde, painting is drawing yet again. His mastery of line and contour is so great that he is able to abandon himself to a sort of intoxication in the representations of a recomposedeveryday-life. Marc Clauzade has an incredible talent for recreation. To one’s query, the artist replied: “When one is a pedestrian, or a simple client sitting outside a caf? subjects of observation are endless. Eyes, ears, hands, all take notes and simply returning to the studio does the rest.
The young artist thus chooses to teach drawing and painting for beginners. His enthusiastic teaching talents rapidly attract both esteem and friendship from his pupils.
At the same time he opens an eponymous art gallery in the "Rue Perchepinte" in Toulouse. Promising young artists appreciate being presented by one of their own, someone capable of talking of their work with competence and objectivity. An informed public is to be found in the "Marc Clauzade Gallery" and critics take pleasure in giving account of his exhibitions.
Both teacher and art gallery owner, Marc Clauzade does not lack occupation. And yet he is bored, needs to paint and can't help taking notes and sketching. He moves into the gallery cellar and paints that which he loves most: streets, public gardens, people, all things that live and move. His paintings are a delight to all those who discover them.
